Would You Work For Free?

Most people would say no they wouldn’t work for free, and yet we all do.

Yes, even you.

I know you’re probably aghast at that thought, thinking ‘no not I’, I’m not a mug.

Let me prove it with a little quiz…..(down below)

……And in so doing impart a little leap year lesson in appreciation.

Once you’ve realised how much work you do for free and how crummy that feels you’ll probably start thinking about how many people around you do stuff for you, for free!

Today, why don’t you take a huge leap and show someone you appreciate what they do for you, and your family. If you can’t ‘cross their palms with gold’ (and remember – price is a value judgement), then at least express your thanks.

After all:

“The deepest craving of human nature is to be appreciated” William James.

And if that’s not enough, saying thanks is not only good for you, it may even be good for business, health and help you sleep better.

oh I understand that feeling, particularly when the kids are young. Mind you there’s still quite a bit of running around after them when they’re older too, it’s just it now includes driving them! ;-p

Great thought provoking post! I guess I have learned to define my ‘payment’ in ways that aren’t always fincancial… helps me get my head around doing some things when there’s no option.

Exactly what I was getting at! It isn’t easy feeling unappreciated, so I try to show my appreciation to those who do so much around me too.
